House Democrats just revealed that a whistleblower has stepped forward to inform Congress about Trump’s disgraced former National Security Advisor’s attempts to use his official position in the White House to drop the Obama administration’s Russia sanctions for his own personal benefit.
General Michael Flynn even sent text messages to his former employer during Trump’s inaugural speech saying that the plan to drop Russian sanctions was “good to go” and they would be “ripped up” right away to help a massive Middle East nuclear deal for which he’d been paid as a consultant.
Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) released a bombshell letter (embedded below) today, describing the anonymous whistleblower’s revelations about Flynn’s communications with ACU Strategic Partners, for whom he reported that he’d been a private consultant on the Russian nuclear deal during last year’s election, along with a company called IP3. The Times reports:
Mr. Flynn believed that ending the sanctions could allow a business project he had once participated in to move forward, according to the whistle-blower. The account is the strongest evidence to date that the Trump administration wanted to end the sanctions immediately, and suggests that Mr. Flynn had a possible economic incentive for the United States to forge a closer relationship with Russia.
Mr. Flynn had worked on a business venture to partner with Russia to build nuclear power plants in the Middle East until June 2016, but remained close with the people involved afterward. On Inauguration Day, according to the whistle-blower, Mr. Flynn texted the former business associate to say that the project was “good to go.”
Federal employees can face felony criminal charges for conflict of interest if they use their government position for self-serving financial reasons.
The whistleblower’s statements are a chilling reminder that Trump’s associates not only hate Muslims, but see the world as a place to be plundered, and America’s armed forces as little more than free security for their nefarious plans.
Here is an excerpt from ACU’s Alex Copson statements about the nuclear deal:
Just one week ago, Rep. Cummings released a letter demanding more information from IP3, another of Flynn’s paymasters on the Middle East/Russian nuclear deal. Ironically, that company is also led by another convicted former Republican National Security advisor, Bud McFarland.
Since then, General Flynn has pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI in exchange for his formal cooperation with the Special Counsel’s probe. Flynn’s plea deal didn’t cover any other prospective crimes he committed, including failing to register as a foreign agent.
Shamefully, House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) is refusing to issue subpoenas, which is probably what motivated the Maryland Democrat to go public with the whistleblower’s allegations.
The South Carolina Republican who led the Benghazi Select Committee, eagerly investigated Hillary Clinton while there was an FBI probe. Yet now Gowdy claims that he doesn’t want to interfere with the Special Counsel’s probe and won’t even let the House Oversight panel vote to send subpoenas to Flynn’s partners in the Russian nuclear deal.
Rep. Cummings wrote that the Special Counsel’s office has already looked into these new Russian sanctions allegations and informed the House Oversight that their further investigation of the Russian nuclear deal won’t conflict with their probe.
General Flynn’s guilty plea deal puts everyone who participated in the scheme to drop sanctions on Russia to “recolonize” the Middle East in grave legal jeopardy.
Now, it has become urgent that Congress pursue their investigation into General Flynn’s use of his White House job to help this Russian nuclear deal immediately, especially since President Trump has publicly characterized his disgraced NSA’s move to drop sanctions as, “just doing his job.”
Trump’s Administration tried to secretly and quickly drop Russian sanctions shortly after he took office last January.
The big questions now become: What did President Trump know about dropping Russian sanctions for Flynn’s nuclear deal, when did he know it and was he also one of the people ACU planned to make “very wealthy”?
