Trump Just Launched A Late-Night Twitter Attack On Al Franken

In the aftermath of Senator Al Franken’s tumultuous morning, in which the Minnesota Senator was accused of touching and kissing Leeann Tweeden without her consent in 2006, Trump took to Twitter to weigh in on a subject with which he is admittedly all-too-familiar.

Franken, for his part, has already issued an apology for his behavior, and even went so far as to request that an ethics investigation be launched, promising his full cooperation.

“I understand why we need to listen to and believe women’s experiences,” he said. “I am asking that an ethics investigation be undertaken, and I will gladly cooperate.”

His accuser, Tweeden, has since accepted Franken’s apology.

Trump, however, is an entirely different story. The President has been accused of sexual harassment or assault by at least 16 different women. His accusers were as young as 13-years-old at the time of the reported incidents, and spanned over the course of decades.

Trump was also caught effectively admitting to sexual assault in the now-infamous Access Hollywood tapes. During a conversation between Trump and now-ousted NBC host Billy Bush caught on a hot mic in 2005, the then-real estate mogul admitted to grabbing unsuspecting women “by the pussy” without consent.

“You know, I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait,” Trump bragged. “And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything.”

While this certainly isn’t the first time that the President has thrown stones from a glass house, it may very well be the most tone-deaf, given the current climate surrounding sexual assault in this country. Trump may act like a petulant child, but that doesn’t excuse him from his own disgusting and illegal actions. His decision to shine a spotlight on sexual assault will undoubtedly come back to haunt him.
