Say goodbye to freedom of speech if you work for the Centers for Disease Control And Prevention (CDC).
Policy analysts at the Agency’s headquarters in Atlanta were provided with a list of forbidden words in a meeting yesterday with senior CDC officials who oversee the budget, according to an article in The Washington Post.
The list includes seven words and phrases that they will be prohibited from using in official documents in preparation for next year’s budget. The censored words include:
No, you haven’t fallen asleep and found yourself dumped into the midst of an Orwellian nightmare. This nightmare is real. The people you elected to represent you actually think that you can eliminate concepts by pretending that they don’t exist. Remove the words, and people can’t talk about the things that they represent. Poof! Problem gone!
Don’t worry, though, the thought police have helpfully provided suggested substitutes as an alternative to the some of the now-verboten words. For “science-based” or “evidence-based”, you can simply say that the “CDC bases its recommendations on science in consideration with community standards and wishes.”
I don’t know about your community, but MY community wants the Center for Goddamn Disease Control to be basing its policies on science and evidence and just doesn’t give a crap what the uneducated morons who’ve never bothered to pick up a book or do any research into FACTS have to say on the matter. This is evangelical Christian sharia law put into action.
According to The Post:
“At the CDC, the meeting about the banned words was led by Alison Kelly, a senior leader in the agency’s Office of Financial Services, according to the CDC analyst, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized to speak publicly. Kelly did not say why the words are being banned, according to the analyst, and told the group that she was merely relaying the information.”
“Other CDC officials confirmed the existence of a list of forbidden words. It’s likely that other parts of HHS are operating under the same guidelines regarding the use of these words, the analyst said.”
So this utter madness likely extends throughout the entire health and Human Services Agency! Soon there will likely be no more research into illnesses like the Zika virus that affect pregnant women and their…you know, that little thing inside their uterus, the thing that grows from an embryo, the one that eventually grows into a human, what’s the word I’m looking for?!? How can you fight disease in something that you cannot name?
If the reaction of the CDC workers at the meeting is any gauge, not all hope is lost for the country quite yet. Here’s how The Post describes their reaction when being told of the new rules:
“The longtime CDC analyst, whose job includes writing descriptions of the CDC’s work for the administration’s annual spending blueprint, could not recall a previous time when words were banned from budget documents because they were considered controversial.”
“The reaction of people in the meeting was “incredulous,” the analyst said. “It was very much, ‘Are you serious? Are you kidding?’ ”
“In my experience, we’ve never had any pushback from an ideological standpoint,” the analyst said.
Reaction on the internet was understandably outraged.
Wait, that is what they are replacing sh*t, p*ss, f*ck, c*nt, coc*sucker, motherfuc*er, and t*ts with?

So these are all bad but "evidence- and science-based?" What the holy hell? Better hope we don't have a flu epidemic while these incompetent morons are running the show. Can we declare the Trump Administration an urgent threat to public health?

Well, at least they left "malignant cancer" in there so we can keep referring to those in trump's administration correctly.

Welcome to the Brave New World, my friends. To paraphrase Devo: “Freedom of speech is what we want. Freedom from speech is what we’ve got.”
These are the brain police…and they’re coming to get you.
Unless you vote these cultural jihadists out of office that is.
