Trump Just Attacked The FBI In Early Morning Tweet Storm

The President continued to try to cover his large Trumpian rump with a series of Tweets this morning attacking the FBI and media outlets reporting on the growing scandal over the Russian collusion with his campaign for office.

First, he went after former FBI director James Comey claiming that the famously honest and buttoned-up federal agent was the one lying about Trump asking him to stop investigating Michael Flynn over the Russia investigation.

Why anyone would believe the President, who has been proven to lie at any opportunity he’s given, over the integrity-filled former FBI chief is a question that must be asked.

Next, he went after the FBI agent working for Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller who was transferred after it was discovered that he had posted messages on social media critical of the president. While such political behavior is not allowed from agents working on a federal investigation, one can only imagine that it must be extremely difficult to have to investigate the actions of the President over the course of the several years that the probe is covering without forming an opinion about the man. Extreme feelings are hard to bottle up.

The tweet also reinforces the impression that Rupert Murdoch and Fox News are manipulating the President’s media perceptions by feeding his paranoia with negative stories to rile him up.

Trump’s next tweet was the piece de resistance, a claim that the reputation of the FBI is in ruin because its investigations into Hillary Clinton found no evidence of the wrong-doing that Trump insists she is guilty of.

The fact of the matter is that Trump himself is the only one recirculating crackpot internet conspiracy theories attacking the integrity of the FBI, and he’s doing it to spread doubt about the nature of reality and truth as he tries to deflect attention from his own misdeeds.

Trump then went on to one of his favorite topics, ‘fake news”, attacking ABC News who just announced that they had suspended reporter Brian Ross, who had erroneously reported that Trump asked Flynn  to contact Russia on his behalf during the campaign rather than during the transition period after he “won” the election with a minority of the popular vote.

The legal industry surely should give Trump an award for increasing their business this year by many multiples over the normal level. Between the army of lawyers now working to defend him and his administration members against the plethora of charges against them, he now wants to put hundreds of more attorneys to work suing ABC News. Warning to readers: consider whether you really want to be taking any legal advice from this man.

Trump’s final tweet (so far) today goes back to the FBI and the agent who posted negative messages about him.

Have you ever considered the possibility, Mr. Presdient that the agent formed his negative opinions about you after having investigated your actions? That would really make sense. A lot more sense than your attempts to point the finger of blame everywhere but where it actually belongs.

Trump’s strategy of spreading doubt about the mainstream media and the intelligence community investigating him for treasonous acts comes straight from the authoritarian playbook. Well, we’ve read that book, Donnie, and we won’t be fooled.

The fact of the matter is that professional law enforcement, judiciary, and media separate their personal opinions from their jobs, unlike you Mr. President. Stop tweeting and start preparing your legal defense. Mueller is creeping closer every day.
