Trump Fans Just Made A Facebook Post By A Soldier’s Widow Go Viral…But There’s A Problem

With all the president’s ranting about “fake news” in the mainstream media, you would think that his supporters would be a bit more discerning in their scrutiny of the Facebook posts they decide to forward. A large number of Trump fans, however, were taken in by a phony post supposedly by Myeshia Johnson, the widow of the slain Green Beret Sgt. La David Johnson who was killed in Niger last week.

If only they had bothered to check in with they would have found out that the post was completely fake.

The right-wing was anxious to believe the post was genuine since it appeared to show Sgt. Johnson’s grieving widow accusing Rep. Federica Wilson (D-FL), the Congresswoman who broke the story of President Trump’s callous and insensitive remarks to the press, of exploiting the incident for her own political gain.

Given that the Rep. Wilson was a personal friend of the Johnson family, anyone with a smidgen of intelligence would have questioned the legitimacy of the post, but as Paul Simon once wrote: “a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest.”

Snopes easily debunked the possibility that the post was genuine. It was erroneously dated an hour before the call from the president to Mrs. Johnson actually took place, so could not possibly be real. Moreover, the profile picture in the post still uses the square format that Facebook abandoned in favor of circular portraits back in August, before any of this controversy erupted. Someone must have spent all of ten minutes on Photoshop to put this one together.

Take a look below and see if you would have been fooled as easily as the many Trump fans by this real example of “Fake News”.

Meanwhile, back in the world of real news, President Trump continues to attack Rep. Wilson on Twitter, after having sent out his Chief of Staff Gen. John Kelly to lie on his behalf by asserting that the Congresswoman made an outlandish claim of credit for a project, a statement that was obviously refuted when a videotape of the event he described surfaced and proved that she never said any such thing.

Now one of the last remaining members of the Trump adminstration thought to have the fortitude to stand up to the President’s lies has proven to be equally complicit in his agenda of deceipt, political retribution, and vindictiveness and has lost the last shred of credibility that the administration possibly retained.

Add your name to millions demanding Congress take action on the President’s crimes. IMPEACH TRUMP & PENCE!
