Birds of a feather flock together. President Trump has no loyalty toward those who work for him and the feeling is mutual. Some of his closest confidants have just leaked the Donald’s real reason for pushing a government shutdown and it has nothing to do with protecting American citizens.
He is afraid he lost some of his racist base, the only people in America who genuinely support him, when he made a deal with Democrats earlier this fall. So now, he wants to shut down the government as a charade to pander his base by extorting government money to “build the wall” on the Mexican border and blame Democrats for the holdup.
The Pretender-in-Chief’s maneuver would come right before Congress’ December 8 spending deadline, an action neither party wants to see happen, least of all the Republicans, who can’t wait to vote through their Scrooge-like tax scam bill just in time for Christmas.
“Trump has told others that a government shutdown could be good for him politically and is focusing on his hard-line immigration stance as a way to win back supporters unhappy with his outreach to Democrats this fall, according to people who have spoken with him recently” https://t.co/AI3KtrTxJx

According to The Washington Post:
Trump’s mixed messages on a partial government shutdown could hamper the ability of congressional Republicans to negotiate with Democrats, whose support they need to pass spending legislation in coming weeks. Many Republicans said this week that a shutdown is a possibility they hope to avoid. Even inside the White House, aides fret about the possibility, saying it would not poll well.
Trump always intended the wall rallying cry as a meaningless gambit to rally disaffected white workers to his side in common cause against hard-working Mexican immigrants who take jobs even the poorest white Americans never would, whom he has infamously called “murderers” and “rapists.”
But when he was put to the test by Mexican president Enrique Peña Nieto, Trump immediately caved, admitting that the border wall was simply a political stalking horse:
But my position has been and will continue to be very firm saying that Mexico cannot pay for that wall.
But you cannot say that to the press. The press is going to go with that and I cannot live with that. You cannot say that to the press because I cannot negotiate under those circumstances.
In other words, the president who ran as “the best negotiator” is a total wimp.
Rather than try to win over the country over which he presides with sane, tempered leadership and rhetoric, the Great Bloviator prefers to keep returning to the “deplorables” who love the bigotry and misogyny he spews.
By leaking his latest self-sabotaging, half-baked plans, his own inner circle are trying to cut him off at the pass, trying to prevent the American economy from bankrupting itself.
If Trump does move to shutdown the government, it will be the craven Republicans’ cynical and unpatriotic enabling of this corrupt, madman president coming back to bite them. Unfortunately, the rest of us are getting chewed up with them.
