The Senate Just Demanded An Interview With Trump’s Russian Mobster Buddy

The Senate Judiciary Committee’s Ranking member just sent a civil demand for Congressional testimony and documents from President Trump’s mafia-linked Russian-American business advisor, Felix Sater, who has publicly said that he will cooperate with the Senate’s request (documents embedded below).

Yesterday, Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-CA) sent longtime Trump Organization advisor and Russian business fixer Felix Sater a lengthy list of documents to produce along with a demand that he testify to the panel before the end of NovemberFelix Sater visited Trump Tower during the campaign and infamously made headlines after inauguration for carrying a secret ‘peace plan’ to the Ukrainian parliament and his involvement in a proposed Moscow Trump Tower deal.

The Senator requested documents some of which – if they exist and were provided – would prove that Felix Sater was colluding with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s government or working as an unregistered agent of Russia during the Trump Campaign, including:

The demand letter notes that Sater notoriously bragged by email during the campaign to President Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen – who has himself lawyered up – that ““Our boy can become president of the USA and we can engineer it,” Mr. Sater wrote in an email. “I will get all of Putin’s team to buy in on this, I will manage this process.”

Sen. Feinstein’s request asks for all material dating back to 2015 related to Sater’s work on a Trump Tower, payments from the Trump Organization – which could implicate the company in election law violations – and any communications related to any proposed or completed trips by then Trump to Moscow since 2015:

However, Russian news reports indicate that plans for a Trump Tower in Moscow were announced as far back as late-2013 when Donald Trump was in Russia organizing the Miss Universe 2013 Pageant with Azeri-Russian oligarch Aras Agalarov.

Coincidentally, Felix Sater happens to be a voluminous writer of detailed emails, some of which appear to be fairly incriminating, many of which have surfaced as he defends himself in a civil racketeering lawsuit stemming from his role behind the Trump SoHo hotel.

If he refuses to turn over responsive records like the Committee’s leadership believes Jared Kushner is doing, then the Senate Judiciary panel could then issue a subpoena if Republican Chairman Senator Grassley agrees.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s interest in Sater has been reported since August.

If Sater does have records applicable to the Democratic Senator’s demand but withholds them, then the Special Counsel’s investigation has the power to obtain a more invasive search warrant, which could lead to a federal obstruction of justice charge.

An award-winning journalist reported over the summer that Sater is ratting out Trump.

One of Trump’s “best people,” Felix Sater is a former FBI informant and CIA asset and used to carry a business card identifying himself as a Senior Advisor to the Trump Organization. He’s also a twice-convicted ex-felon who ran $40 million dollar series of penny stock pump-and-dump schemes alongside New York’s mafia families from the Trump Office Tower at 40 Wall Street.

Donald Trump is so vividly afraid of his relationship to Felix Sater, that he once stormed out of a BBC interview for being asked about him, and perjured himself in a Florida civil court deposition that he wouldn’t recognize his Senior Advisor if he saw him.

President Trump must be terrified of what Sater could reveal to Congress.
