The pasty white alt-right found something new to complain about today with the announcement that Britain’s Prince Harry would be marrying Meghan Markle, a biracial American actress.
While most of the world is delighted by the news and continues to gush about the charming couple, the racist trolls and alt-right bloggers see the union as a cause of great consternation. They want Prince Harry to marry a white woman and have white babies. They’re stuck in a regressive, antiquated worldview and insist on foisting it onto others.
Prince Harry and Ms. Markle’s relationship is their business, and it’s pathetic that racist conservatives would try to politicize their love. The haters can shout into the Twitter void as much as they like, it won’t stop the marriage and it won’t affect the excitement the announcement has engendered in most people.
Now, President Obama has taken to Twitter to offer his heartfelt congratulations to the newly betrothed couple.
Michelle and I are delighted to congratulate Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on their engagement. We wish you a lifetime of joy and happiness together.

President Trump has yet to mention the marriage, and probably will refrain from doing so out of fear of angering his largely bigoted, racist base. He can’t be seen to condone a biracial marriage or risk losing the support of the KKK-loving voters who put him in power. Luckily, President Obama continues to offer the kind of leadership that Trump so sorely lacks.
