President Trump’s bumbling, crooked son testified before the House Intelligence Committee yesterday as part of their inquiry into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Much of the Committee’s interest in Donald Jr. focused on his secret meeting with Russian attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya in which he, along with Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort, sought dirt on Hillary Clinton.
The first major piece of information to leak out of the hearing was the head-scratching news that Donald Jr. refused to answer questions about a conversation between himself and his father after news of the secret Trump Tower meeting broke by claiming he was invoking attorney-client privilege. It was a strange move that didn’t make any legal sense, and that for many implied that incriminating things had been said during the conversation with President Trump.
Now, more details are starting to emerge about the hearing. One particular encounter between Donald Jr. and Adam Schiff (D-CA) stands out in particular, and show just how poorly equipped these privileged criminals are to face an investigation.
ABC News reports that the president’s son and his lawyers complained about how long the hearing was taking after it had only been going for a couple hours.
Schiff replied that Secretary Hillary Clinton had endured 11 hours of questions at the hands of Representative Trey Gowdy (R-SC) during the Benghazi probe and that Trump Jr. was nowhere near that length of time yet.
Trump Jr. said the two events were different since Clinton was testifying on an event in which four Americans died. He’s correct that they are different, but wrong about why.
The difference between the hearings is that Clinton was found innocent of any wrongdoing despite the fact that it was Republican-led witch hunt engineered to smear her. She sat through it like the iron-spined stateswoman she is and ended up vindicated.
Trump Jr. on the other hand, is at the center of what increasingly looks likes a criminal conspiracy. There have already been three indictments that we know of in special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation and former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn has struck a plea deal and flipped.
In other words, the Russia investigation is very real, and the Benghazi probe was a series of unfounded, fabricated outrages. Donald Trump Jr. is a whiny coward and isn’t half the individual that Secretary Clinton is. Good on Adam Schiff for pointing it out.
