Even as Republicans begin to fall in line behind a pedophile who was already lawlessly extreme enough to be removed from the bench twice, Democrats are debating whether a Senator accused of forced kissing and grabbing a sleeping woman’s breasts in a photograph should resign.
David Frum, former speechwriter to President George W. Bush, sees reason for concern in the dichotomy and made it known today on Twitter (below).
To be clear, even as new evidence calls into question some of the claims of Senator Al Franken’s (D-MN), there is no excuse for taking a picture in which he appears to be holding a woman’s breasts while she slept. Franken himself has acknowledged as much.
Putting that in the same context as Alabama Republican Senate nominee Roy Moore’s decades-long pattern of preying on girls as young as 14 borders on the absurd.
And yet, Democrats are in the process of doing some important soul searching while an alarming number of Republicans — from the White House on down — have announced their intention to look the other way.
The juxtaposition is everything you need to know about the two parties. The so-called party of family values is willing to cast aside even the most basic basic moral tenets to keep a Senate seat while Democrats have shown a willingness to sacrifice one of its most powerful voices in order to practice what they preach.
Frum asks the question America needs to consider. If there is any decency left, the answer will be a resounding NO.
So who is ready for a world in which Democrats force Al Franken out of the Senate while Republicans vote Roy Moore in?
