On the heels of Friday’s bombshell allegations against accused pedophile Roy Moore, most Republicans have publicly rebuked the Alabama Senate candidate. One Republican, former Tea Party Congressman Joe Walsh, opted instead to offer a defense of the accused child molester.
All these people calling for Roy Moore to step down: Why are they so afraid of letting our democratic process work itself out?
Why are they so afraid of just letting the people of Alabama vote?

For clarification, people are not calling on Roy Moore to step down because we are “afraid of letting our democratic process work itself out.” People are calling on him to step down because he is widely believed to be a child molester, which is not only antithetical to his supposed “family values” campaign, but illegal in the United States.
Of course, Walsh ceded any modicum of moral high ground around the same time that he opted not to pay $117,000 in child support.
Actor Ron Perlman summed up Twitter’s collective response perfectly.
Why are you so fuckin stupid, Joe? https://t.co/MuXhNTLcGL

Perlman is best known for his roles as both Hellboy in the movie adaptions of the comic book of the same name, and Clay Morrow in the hit TV series Sons of Anarchy. Since the outset of Trump’s presidential campaign, Perlman stepped into his new role as a Trump troll and overall agitator of intolerant right-wingers on Twitter.
Perlman’s tweet comes in response to The Washington Post’s bombshell report in which four women stepped forward to accuse Roy Moore, at the time a District Attorney in his 30s, of engaging in sexual behavior while they were between the ages of 14- and 18-years-old. The story was corroborated by over 30 sources. After hearing his tepid defense in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, Senators from both sides of the aisle have sided with the accusers and publicly urged Moore to step aside.
It is perhaps not the best idea to attempt to publicly defend a child molester; Perlman’s tweet tonight is exactly why.
